In 2006, Texas art teacher Sydney McGee lost her job after taking fifth-grade students on a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art.
Why? Some parents were upset because students saw nude art at the museum. Other parents were not so concerned, noting that the outing was pre-approved by the school principal. Read the New York Times article »
What do you think? Is nude art taboo for younger museum visitors?

We want your help to create the concept for July’s Untitled #6 (Nighty-Night) advertisements. It’s not that our marketing department is lazy; we want to see what you can do!
The winner gets bragging rights, and an ad featuring his/her image will be published in Westword and The Onion (Denver edition) during the last week of July 2007. We’ll also use the winning image on this Untitled website and in e-newsletters and collateral materials. Honorable mentions may also be posted on this website.

###What to Include###
Our Untitled #6 label should comprise about 15–25% of your image. If we can’t read the label, your design is not going to fly!
Feel free to include original photography of the museum’s exterior and public lobby areas. Photographs of the museum’s art galleries will not be permitted. If your image includes people, you are responsible for obtaining consent in the form of a signed model release.
You do not need to include the museum’s logo, address, or sponsor information, which will be added by the Denver Art Museum.

- Three representatives from The Integer Group (advertising agency)
- Denver Art Museum staff, including a marketing manager, a curator, a master teacher, and a graphic designer
- My mom (Don’t let that fool you. She’s hip!)
The contest winner will be announced on June 29 at the Untitled #5 (Size Matters) event. Participants do not need to be present to win.

Is text as art really a twentieth-century concept? Sure, Braque and Picasso turned heads by using news clippings in collages in the early 1900s. And contemporary artists like Ed Rausch, Jennie Holzer, Lawrence Weiner, and Lorna Simpson use words to express themselves visually.
But letters, numbers, and words have been featured in Japanese scrolls, European illuminated manuscripts, and other artworks for hundreds of years. How are these works different than contemporary examples? Are they different?
