Elastic Art

Marcel Duchamp stretched the definition of art into uncharted territory, anointing everyday objects like urinals and bicycle wheels as works of art in their own right. And he left one hell of a big question on the table: What is art? Chime in.

  1. I think art is anything you want it to be. Isn’t the real purpose of art to inspire, invoke, and effect?

  2. The best thing about Duchamp is that he validated the idea that anything we think is wonderful is “art”. No longer does education or skill play a part in the visual stimulation that art can be inherently. Werd to Marcel!

  3. Art is an Expression, the material used, is irreverent, whether it be music, dance, paint, digital, etc. Art is, as someone said before, what you make it. Art is a very very general word and can be used to many many ways.
